About the Conference

In the 21st century, the past has ceased to be solely a subject of historical research. Historical memory has become an important resource for political mobilization, the formation of national identities, and the construction of the image of "us" versus "them."

It influences:

  • foreign policy strategies of states;
  • regional conflicts and reconciliation processes;
  • international organizations and diplomatic practices;
  • perception of borders, territories, and historical heritage.

Our conference "Borders of Memory" is dedicated to exploring how various forms of appealing to the past transform modern international and regional systems.
